The Master of Science in Engineering Maths in Action (MAEA) is a national Master of Science in Engineering degree (M2) co-accredited by Jean Monnet University and Mines Saint-Étienne. It is therefore subject to a regulated tuition fee system in public institutions. Depending on your status (initial training, work-study, international, returning to studies), several solutions can be mobilized to finance the year.
Tuition and mandatory fees
National tuition fees (set by the Ministry)

- European students (EU / EEA / Switzerland):
€254 / year - Non-European Union students

Other mandatory fees
- Student and Campus Life Contribution (CVEC) ≈ €105 / year
Mandatory annual fee payable by all students enrolled in initial education (except scholarship holders). It must be paid before administrative registration. - Civil liability insurance
Mandatory for all educational activities, including access to technological platforms and internships.

Master’s Thesis Compensation (Long Internship)
- Mandatory stipend
The mandatory internship of 4 to 6 months (Master’s Thesis) entitles students to a mandatory minimum monthly stipend in accordance with French legislation. - Mobility Grants
Internships conducted at international partner laboratories may be eligible for additional mobility grants (Erasmus+, regional aid).
Dual Degree and Engineering Students
For engineering students from Mines Saint-Étienne or other partner schools:
- the Master of Science in Engineering MAEA can be part of a dual degree program,
- the financial terms are then specified according to the agreement between institutions.
