“24 hours to hack the construction site!”: Village by CA Loire Haute-Loire hosted the Eurovia Hackathon at the Mixeur de Saint-Étienne on May 25 and 26, which took place simultaneously in 6 cities across France. The challenge for the teams: improve the experience of local residents during construction projects. Josué Bulot from Mines Saint-Étienne and Chaza Hatem from Télécom Saint-Étienne proposed a connected metal terminal.
“Limiting nuisances and thus making them more acceptable”
The project led by Josué Bulot and Chaza Hatem, supported by professionals from the group, proposed a connected tactile metal information terminal regarding a construction site, updated via a digital tablet.
“Residents see the constraints of the construction site but not its challenges and benefits: the proposed solution increases mutual interaction and understanding by installing a connected tactile terminal near construction sites featuring several components (map, schedule, progress, traffic, FAQ, etc.).”

“This is my first time participating in a hackathon,” says Josué Bulot. “I discovered that the challenge of better integrating residents into urban projects was interesting, and this collaborative work was very concrete.”
Eurovia will develop some of the projects selected at the national level (two were awarded in Saint-Étienne based on Innovation, Business Plan & Technical Feasibility criteria), potentially offering the winning team the opportunity to implement their solution.
