Selected following the IMT call for applications, Nabil Lila and Alain Soulignac brilliantly participated from December 6 to 15 in STEAM School: a week of training and shared prototyping on sustainable development between France and India at the Maker’s Asylum Fab Lab in Mumbai. All participants from various backgrounds provided technical solutions to challenges posed by UNESCO.

“For its 2nd edition, STEAM School 2017, co-organized by the Mumbai makerspace and the CRI Paris interdisciplinary research center, invited around a hundred participants from India and France to draw inspiration from this mindset to learn digital prototyping and develop sustainable projects. The initiative was part of Bonjour India 2017-2018.

IMT is a partner of this event held under the patronage of the French Embassy in India.

The challenges focused on five main themes: health and well-being, quality education, water treatment, clean energy, and sustainable cities.

“These 10 intense days within the Maker’s Asylum Fab Lab and in Mumbai taught us a great deal on a human level. Steam School allowed us to exchange ideas and learn to work with people from all walks of life: extraordinary encounters, an experience that was both unique and incredible.”

“The projects and solutions created during the 2nd STEAM School were then exhibited at the Tech 2017 trade fair organized by UNESCO in Visakhapatnam from December 16 to 18, 2017, dedicated to ‘developing digital pedagogies to build a sustainable society’.”

Both projects our students worked on are on the podium!
“The creation of an affordable and portable toilet for rural areas” (A. Soulignac) and “A solution for spreading insecticides and reducing the proliferation of mosquitoes in stagnant water” (N. Lila).
> Congratulations to our two engineering students for their selection, their achievements, and their feedback.
