This year, the 50th Congress of the Society of Biomechanics took place in Marseille.

This essential event for the French-speaking scientific community aims to foster exchanges between researchers, engineers, and industrialists, support young researchers and doctoral students, disseminate innovations in the fields of human movement, biological tissues, or rehabilitation, and strengthen ties between fundamental research and industry.

This year, 250 people gathered to attend the presentation of various awards, notably the Christian Oddou Award, which was given to Stéphane Avril, professor and researcher in biomechanics at Mines Saint-Etienne.

His work represents a significant contribution to biomechanics, and this award is a true recognition from the scientific community. It was an opportunity to highlight the work not only of the researcher but also of his laboratory and his team. With Stéphane Avril, it is Mines Saint-Etienne that is being honored, as well as SAINBIOSE, the joint research unit of Jean Monnet University, INSERM, and our School.

Two members of the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering were also honored. Fanette Chassagne (Assistant Professor) received the Travel Award and Béatrice Bisighini (Postdoctoral Researcher) received the Best PhD Thesis Award.

For our researchers, this 50th edition of the Congress was a true moment of scientific sharing. It was an opportunity to highlight the importance of biomechanics in major health, performance, and technological innovation challenges.
