The international scientific journal Image Analysis & Stereology recently published a tribute to Johan Debayle, who passed away in September 2024.

A professor at Institut Mines-Télécom, Deputy Director of the Georges Friedel Laboratory and of the SPIN Center at Mines Saint-Étienne, Johan Debayle was a renowned researcher for his work in image processing, stochastic geometry, and mathematical morphology. His scientific commitment, intellectual rigor, and ability to build bridges between disciplines left a lasting mark on his colleagues, his students, and the entire scientific community.

The published article looks back on the breadth of his contributions, his scientific responsibilities (notably within the MORPHEA network), as well as the human qualities that made him a colleague and mentor appreciated by all.
