As part of the BIOFIT trade fair, our partner On[e]Life organized the AI and Health Hackathon “Hack Your Senses: Transform one sense to another“, in which ten ISMIN engineering students participated, forming 3 of the 9 teams: no podium finish, but an authentic jury favorite for the SENSEA project led by 4 first-year ISMIN students: Mathieu Bonis, Come Allart, Hugo Rechatin, and Lorys Alda.

Description:
“When a person is in a coma, speaking to them and interacting with them is essential, but this monologue is often difficult for the caregiver.
Our project consists of capturing the patient’s emotional feedback using an electroencephalography (EEG) headset to make it visible, thereby reconstructing something resembling a dialogue and improving communication…”

Not initially planned, this distinction rewards a promising project; the jury wished to congratulate and encourage the team to continue: they receive 6 months of coaching from OneLife, the support of a doctor, and an EEG headset (provided by Emotiv) to develop their project.

Two appointments have been made: one with Olivier Oullier, President of Emotiv, to work on the implementation of the headset, and one with Professor Guillaume Gorincour, a pediatric radiologist, for a visit to the Institute of Neurosciences.

Alongside this event, Mines Saint-Étienne was a partner in the symposium offered to broaden the subject, with the support of the Région Sud Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur and the CCI Marseille Provence:

Round table with Pascal Staccini, Werner Mewes & Olivier Oullier: “Health Data: Collection, Management, Sharing, and Innovation?”.
Round table with Pierre Grand-Dufay, Nicolas Lévy & Miroslav Radman: “Immortality: Towards a Biological or Cybernetic Augmentation of Man?”
