Mines Saint-Étienne, Aésio Mutuelle, and Aésio Santé signed a strategic partnership agreement on March 14.
Objective: to combine our expertise to develop innovative tools and services in the health sector, aimed at improving the quality of life for seniors and enabling elderly people to remain at home.
A long-standing collaboration dedicated to health

On Monday, March 14, it was at the Maison du Parc that David Delafosse (interim director of the School), Patrick Brothier (President of Aesio Mutuelle), and Pascal Haury (President of Aesio Santé) signed the new partnership agreement. The agreement renews and extends the collaboration initiated in 2018 between Mines Saint-Étienne and Eovi Mcd (Aesio Mutuelle and Aesio Santé since its merger in January 2021 with the Adréa and Apréva mutual insurance companies). The previous agreement led to the creation of MedTechLab®, a living lab dedicated to field experimentation and full-scale testing of products or services integrating new health technologies, and an experimental space reproducing a connected apartment for an elderly or frail person at full scale.
The agreement with Aésio Mutuelle and Aésio Santé will allow us to continue innovating to provide tomorrow’s solutions and work towards improving the quality of life for our fellow citizens.
David Delafosse, Interim Director
Thinking about Future Medicine now

The new agreement provides for the implementation of numerous projects across 3 different themes:
- The well-being of seniors in EHPADs
- Maintaining elderly people at home
- Future Medicine
It should be noted that as part of the partnership, the entities launched the LISE Project in 2021. This project involves experimenting with the cartobat® geolocation device for elderly people with Alzheimer’s residing in Protected Living Units in EHPADs. The objective is to allow them to access additional living spaces, among other things.
Another project has been tested in real conditions since early 2022. This is the Fragility Box, in partnership with the University Hospitals of Saint-Etienne and Lyon. It is an innovative solution to secure the home care of elderly people.
The partnership also includes projects in future medicine:
- Development of the future dental practice concept, aiming to improve the patient experience (reduce stress and optimize the journey) and the organization of the premises (virtual reality simulation)
- Evaluation of the impact of telemedicine use for disability institutions
- Funding of a CIFRE thesis to simplify and streamline the care pathway for people undergoing hip or knee prosthesis implantation.
