The event is part of the Science Festival, and the “Science Village” set up for the occasion on campus will be structured around 2 days dedicated to school audiences (Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10) and one day open to the general public (Saturday, October 11, 10 AM – 5 PM). 1,200 visitors are expected over the 3 days.

According to Sandrine Goulvestre, La Rotonde Project Manager at Mines Saint-Etienne’s Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus: ” The Village of Science is a scientific and cultural event where young and old alike discover science through hands-on experiments and fun activities. The aim is to spark the curiosity of younger generations and to remind everyone that science is an essential foundation of our society. “.

Visitors, whether curious, science enthusiasts, high school students, parents, or children, will be able to meet our faculty-researchers and students through various pathways:

  • The 8 pathways designed and led by student associations around the theme of “intelligences.”
  • The stand of the Mines School Robotics Association (AREM) – Demonstrations of autonomous robots created by campus students
  • The ID-Fab stand, the innovation and prototyping platform for smart and connected objects
  • The BioELectronics stand: biocompatible electronics, connected and implantable medical devices, brain-machine interfaces…
  • The Secure Systems and Architectures stand: cybersecurity of connected objects, smart cards, AI security…
  • The Flexible ELectronics stand: flexible electronics and batteries, autonomous sensors, smart textiles, tactile interfaces…
  • The Manufacturing Sciences and Logistics stand: microelectronic manufacturing, rail and maritime logistics…
  • The TEAM stand, Mines Saint-Etienne’s incubator for technology startups
  • The “Future Industry – SUD Region” Campus of Trades and Qualifications stand – I-novmicro#2 project: microelectronics and digital professions
  • The Training Department stand – Computer Systems and Microelectronics Engineer (ISMIN) and other courses – Information on training programs, career opportunities, possible pathways, and discussions with faculty.
  • Other workshops will be offered, such as:
  • CiTIQUE, to learn more about ticks and their pathogens.
  • Curious visitors will notably be able to experience cleanroom conditions to create an electronic chip.
  • Tours of the Centre of Microelectronics in Provence will also allow the public to meet researchers and discover their work through demonstrations: bioelectronics, flexible electronics, etc.
  • At 2 PM, a public conference titled “Science and Disinformation” will question the role of science in our societies. Christian Mercier and Thomas Gerbaud, members of IESF Provence, will simply explain how knowledge is created and how misinformation circulates, particularly via artificial intelligence.

The appointment is set: Saturday, October 11, from 10 AM to 5 PM, on the Aix-Marseille-Provence campus, 880 route de Mimet in Gardanne, with the possibility of having lunch on site.

We look forward to seeing many of you for this day dedicated to discovery and science!
