Mines Saint-Étienne and its partners AÉSIO Santé and AÉSIO Mutuelle opened the doors of the MedTechLab to institutional representatives, local healthcare stakeholders, and the press during a guided tour of its facilities located at the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering (CIS) in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez on October 20.

After a few introductory words delivered successively by Jacques Fayolle, Director of Mines Saint-Étienne, Patrick Brothier, President of AÉSIO Mutuelle, Pascal Haury, President of AÉSIO Santé, Michael Battesti, Deputy Director General of the Saint-Étienne University Hospital, Philippe Berthelot, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Charles Dallara, Metropolitan Councilor, the guests were able to discover four innovative devices in a “living laboratory” dedicated to the design and full-scale testing of products or services integrating new technologies:

  • The ALAIN device, which enables the prediction of cognitive decline in elderly individuals through the use of a Tovertafel (an interactive and playful gaming table) combined with artificial intelligence.
  • The PRÉVICHUTE project, whose objective is to identify and assess potential fall risks for people over 65 based on accident data and daily life information.
  • The MÉMO TLM application, which enables memory tests—typically performed during a consultation with a healthcare professional—to be carried out in an engaging way.
  • A DENTAL CENTER OF TOMORROW concept, which optimizes patient care pathways by adopting an interior layout adapted to different flows and offering personalized digital services to users.

These projects currently under development aim to improve the autonomy of elderly individuals or enable more effective care for the most complex profiles.

They confirm the dynamism of researchers and entrepreneurs working hand in hand to design and implement the enhanced healthcare tools of the coming years.
