The signing of this agreement on November 19th, in the presence of Hugo Le Floc’h, sub-prefect of the Loire department, marks a significant advance in the development of this third-party experimentation site dedicated to the health and autonomy of seniors.

Mines Saint-Étienne formalized a consortium agreement for the MedTechLab in partnership with AÉSIO Santé, the ALOESS association, Nouvelles Technologies, and Gérontopôle AURA.

Winner of the call for projects for third-party experimentation sites, part of the national “Digital Health” strategy of the France 2030 plan, the MedTechLab was awarded 1.2 million euros in funding to consolidate the living lab, expand its activities (clinical and market studies, medico-economic analyses…), and bring two innovative projects to life:

  • ANA: a serious game for the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • ESLIB: a smart bed for the evaluation and improvement of sleep.

An innovation laboratory serving seniors

Led by Mines Saint-Étienne and AÉSIO Santé, the expanded MedTechLab team positions itself as a recognized innovation player in the healthcare sector nationwide. Its work is all the more useful and necessary considering that 17 million seniors are in France today and their number will reach 24 million by 2050, representing 32% of the population.
