She has held the position of Project Officer on the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus since May 2, 2024. This trained engineer fulfills this science communication mission for La Rotonde with passion and enthusiasm.
1. What are your main missions on the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus?
I support science outreach projects for the general public and school children, focusing on microelectronics and digital technology, as part of the I-NOVMICRO#2 project. This includes: organizing the Science Festival, deploying the Schoolab project in the PACA region (this programme has existed for 7 years in Saint-Étienne, and we have just launched the first edition in Bouches-du-Rhône with the goal of supporting 10 classes per year to open them up to the world of research, science, and industry), and finally, developing educational kits for schools.
2. What support do you have to carry them out?
I would not be able to successfully complete my various missions without the support of my team, the researchers from the Centre of Microelectronics in Provence (CMP), and the students who help me set up and run the projects.
3. Do you regularly interact with La Rotonde’s Saint-Étienne team?
I am in constant contact with the team members to discuss practices, ideas, and logistics. I also regularly go to Saint-Étienne to meet them in person.
I will never forget the school children saying: “wow, it was great!“
Sandrine Goulvestre, Project Officer
4. What has been the most significant event since you took up your position?
The Science Festival, which took place in October 2024. We welcomed 36 classes over 2 days and 250 people on Saturday. These three intense days were rich in discussions and encounters. Beyond the educational aspect, it was a great collaborative effort among the School’s members: from researchers to the “infrastructure” team, not forgetting the involvement of students and student associations like Illu’mines, AREM, and Solidar’ISMIN. And I will never forget the school children saying: “wow, it was great!”
