The CMP has been awarded a €3.2 million grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC) to create intelligent technology capable of preventing brain disorders such as epilepsy.

In this project, we plan to create a fully organic neuromorphic circuit, implantable in humans and/or wearable on the skin, which integrates autonomous decision-making capabilities. This altruistic technology will allow people to no longer have to worry about preserving their health and well-being,” explains Sébastien Sanaur, professor-researcher and project lead in Gardanne.

The ICONIC project – Open Pathfinder 2023 (Horizon Europe) – is specifically designed to develop ultra-flexible artificial intelligence electronic devices that promise to revolutionize the real-time monitoring and treatment of chronic diseases.

In the longer term, these next-generation healthcare devices will enable signal recognition through body-friendly electronics. They will also be capable of prescribing medication, without the risk of human error, based on the patient’s profile.

The CMP’s application was selected from 738 dossiers reviewed, with 53 ultimately chosen.

These applications came from France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
