Saint Barbara’s Day is not only celebrated in Saint-Étienne. As proof, about forty alumni gathered in Paris under the Arc de Triomphe last Thursday, December 4, to participate in the Flame rekindling ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Accompanied by Krzysztof Wolski, Director of Training, and Delphine Baron, Director of Philanthropy at the IMT Foundation, some wore the School’s uniform to celebrate, honor, and preserve History.
Mines Saint-Étienne is today a school rich in 200 years of history, decorated with the Legion of Honor, and the Croix de Guerre with palm 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 for the service of its students and alumni on the front lines and in the ranks of the Resistance. The Flame rekindling ceremony under the Arc de Triomphe therefore took on its full meaning, honoring Saint Barbara’s Day and the memory of the elders.
Thanks to Bernard Lechenet and Sébastien Lavabre for relaying the information and for this beautiful photo in uniform in Paris.
