From March 9 to 11, 2018, the ‘Curieux Voyageurs’ film festival will be held at the Saint-Étienne Congress Center and Espace Fauriel. Mines Saint-Étienne is a partner of this annual event, which allows for escape, the exploration of unique places, and the discovery of unknown cultures.

‘Curieux Voyageurs’, an open door to the world

Founded almost thirty years ago by volunteers passionate about discovery, the ‘Curieux Voyageurs’ film festival aims to introduce the world of travel and adventure to young people, adults, and children through documentary films. Travel writers, videographers, directors, and photographers… Unique individuals share their travel experiences and depict daily life in unique environments through exceptional artistic creations: each year, ‘Curieux Voyageurs’ provides the public with access to about forty films and exhibitions dedicated to the world of adventure. The festival attracts 15,000 people annually.

The 2018 program features 9 films:

  • Aquamazonida, directed by Joäo LEITE;
  • Au fil du monde – Japon (Across the World – Japan), directed by Jill Coulon and Isabelle Dupuy Chavanet;
  • Bomb’Héros, l’Amérique du sud à vélo (Bomb’Heroes, South America by Bike), directed by Maëlle Poncet and Pierrick Crozier;
  • Frères des Arbres, l’appel d’un chef papou (Brothers of the Trees, the Call of a Papuan Chief), directed by Marc Dozier and Luc Marescot;

In parallel with the ‘Curieux Voyageurs’ festival, the third edition of the ‘Fast & Curious’ challenge, dedicated to travel mini-films, will be organized. As last year, the top two productions will be awarded a prize. The first prize is a stay in Morocco at ECOLODGE TOUDA.

The ‘Curieux Voyageurs’ festival appeals for donations

The volunteers of the REV’A association are launching an appeal for generosity to ensure the continuation of the ‘Curieux Voyageurs’ festival, which attracted over 16,000 curious visitors to Espace Fauriel at Mines Saint-Étienne during the 2017 edition. The festival organizers specify that, like almost all associations, REV’A’s financial balance relies 30% on public subsidies, 15% on support and partnerships with private companies, but also on the help and generosity of individuals, as well as on festival entrance fees.
