The 2nd edition of Fair Tech Day took place on June 13 on the Aix-Marseille-Provence campus. Launched in 2024 by Sylvain Blayac, a lecturer-researcher at Mines Saint-Etienne, this day is dedicated to raising engineering students’ awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). What meaning should we give to technology in a world in transition? This is the question put to teachers, researchers, industry representatives, and students during Fair Tech Day.

This event is a key milestone in the first-year ISMIN programme. It enables students to question dominant technological models and to meet stakeholders who offer innovative, practical solutions. Fair Tech Day thus extends the SDG module offered to students.

This year, the day was structured around talks and panel discussions. The contributions of Stéphane Crozat (UTC) on low-techisation, Thierry Stein (Head of R&D, Pellenc) on robotics in viticulture, and Anne Alombert (Université Paris 8) on the links between pharmacology and artificial intelligence made a strong impression and shaped the programme. Workshops and role-playing activities were also offered, including the materials recycling challenge organised by the Association of Robotics and Electronics of Mines (AREM).

Fair Tech Day is an event that combines innovation and networking—an annual meeting bringing together different technology stakeholders—which would not have been possible without the support of COMIF (Commission Foyer).
