Congratulations to the engineering students for their commitment to student associations and their actions in the service of the community: this month, we focus on hosting science booths, Illu-Mines’ passionate sharing of science, and the Réseau association’s mobilization in support of students at the G. Charpak Provence Campus.

“Fascinating science outreach workshops!”

A volcano replica, a vacuum pump, a model of the solar system, experiments on magnetism… the Illu-Mines association won over both young and old thanks to its fun and surprising workshops at the Centre-Ancien district festival in Gardanne on June 22.
This friendly community event brought together musicians, dancers, photographers, humanitarian and cultural associations around numerous activities, to the great delight of the public and the people of Gardanne.

The ISMIN students’ association also had the pleasure of hosting a booth on electromagnetism at the 10th edition of the PASS projects forum on June 13 in Aix-en-Provence. Primary and middle school students were able to discover how compasses work, eddy-current braking (Foucault currents), and the properties of magnets…
Each year, this forum brings together hundreds of young people, primary and middle schools from REP and REP+ areas and from rural revitalization zones in the Aix-en-Provence region. All present the projects carried out during the year on different themes (plant-based graffiti, a plan to bring the middle school into compliance for people with reduced mobility, a 3D-printed articulated hand prosthesis …), ideas are plentiful and the results are remarkable. Scientific workshops are offered to participants during the jury’s deliberations .

The 2019–2020 team led by Enzo Castillo offers a range of exciting science outreach activities throughout the year.

The Réseau Minitel_ISMIN association works to promote the well-being of all students on campus!

Among their many initiatives, the students ensured the installation and configuration of new switches within the Student House at the G. Charpak Provence Campus. This makes it possible to increase bandwidth and provide students with a better connection. Thank you!
