Saint-Étienne students marched through the city streets on Saturday, December 2, to celebrate the patron saint of miners and firefighters.

The cold did not diminish their motivation.

Dressed in their uniforms and despite temperatures close to 0°C, about a hundred engineering students marched from Saint-Charles Cathedral to the Couriot pit park to honor Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners and firefighters.

The procession concluded at the foot of the headframe and slag heaps to admire a magnificent pyrotechnic show offered by the city of Saint-Étienne.

For nearly twenty minutes, to the delight of a large audience, the headframe shone brightly.

Each year, at the beginning of winter, the Saint-Étienne students from Mines Saint-Étienne participate in this festive, unifying, and commemorative event.
