On Tuesday, June 16, the staff of Mines Saint-Étienne met for their General Meeting. The results of the audit by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI) were the focus of the first part of this meeting. Krzysztof Wolski reviewed our School’s strengths as well as the planned improvements.
Overall, the auditors clearly understood the structure of the IMT and the regional presence of Mines Saint-Étienne. They noted the successful integration of learners as well as the satisfaction of our graduates’ employers. The reputation of the research teams and the international outlook were also praised.
However, the auditors noted a weak sense of belonging within our apprenticeship-based programmes (FISA). Today, out of 2,500 students, 1,200 are apprentices at the School. Our current objectives are to better identify these programmes and regain control over all processes for these 4 degrees in partnership with the ISTP. Our School has six months to better support them and strengthen these students’ identification with Mines Saint-Étienne.
This audit allows us to take a step back and improve our future results. The Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur will return in 2 years to re-evaluate our apprenticeship-based engineering programmes.
Jacques Fayolle then reviewed Mines Saint-Étienne’s quality approach. Four objectives were presented:
- the construction and evolution of the School’s organization;
- problem detection;
- administrative simplification;
- effective monitoring of procedures.
This meeting was an opportunity to look back at a recent success for our School: the Journées Mines-Télécom. Jacques Fayolle highlighted the sharing and laughter that marked this event.
Finally, David Fara reviewed the various upcoming real estate projects. Regarding the Campus of the Future, the final choice of the lead contractor will be made at the end of June in the presence of the funders, the IMT General Management, and the planners from Embase. The building permit for the SPOT building has been submitted, and work is underway. The same applies to Twin, which will be ready by the end of 2026.
