A few days before a well-deserved retirement, on Friday, September 1st, 2023, the Head of General and Legal Affairs and Head of Staff Academics at Mines Saint-Étienne reflects on her career and responsibilities.
Her Academics
“Following a literary baccalaureate at Simone Veil High School, I joined Jean Monnet University in Saint-Étienne. After five years of study, I obtained a DEA (the equivalent of a Master of Science in Engineering 2 today) in private law in 1982.”
Her arrival at Mines-Saint-Étienne
“I started on May 1st, 1992, initially for a few months as part of the “Business Launcher” program, then by joining the General Secretariat to establish the main bodies of the school, which had just gained the status of a public administrative institution (EPA). My responsibilities then expanded with the creation of the role of Head of Staff Academics. I evolved in these two areas, being simultaneously attached to the General Secretariat and the Human Resources Department.”
Her Responsibilities
“I was involved in managing the school’s bodies for mandate renewals and elections of staff and user representatives (students and doctoral candidates). Regarding academics, I had an advisory and support role. This involved individual follow-up for people who wished to advance professionally, conduct a skills assessment, or inquire about the CPF (Personal Training Account). In this last mission, I could always count on the unwavering help of Joëlle Verney.”
The Ordre des Palmes Académiques
“I had the honor of being awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques in November 2022. Jacques Fayolle, Director of Mines Saint-Étienne, presented me with my medal. This distinction recognizes National Education staff who have fully committed themselves to their work.”
Her Qualities
“I am organized and I believe I possess a certain ease in writing. A skill that has been useful for drafting minutes.”
Her Flaws
“I am rather meticulous, but also tenacious (if one considers that a flaw…).”
Retirement
“I will get back to walking, and I will also inaugurate the exercise bike that has been sitting in my garage for too long! I also plan to do tutoring to maintain intellectual activity. Not to mention dedicating more time to my family and friends. The goal will be to intensely enjoy every moment.”
Her Succession
“My duties will be taken over by different people. I wish them good luck. I hope they will enjoy working in this prestigious higher education institution as much as I have.”
I wish everyone continued success.
