The month of April was rich in media appearances for Natacha Gondran.
A lecturer-researcher in environmental assessment, Natacha Gondran contributed to an article published by Le Monde to discuss our country’s “overshoot day.” In this article, several experts warn readers about the global annual regeneration capacity of our planet’s ecosystems. According to the NGO Global Footprint Network, France exceeded this capacity on April 24.
On the same subject of planetary boundaries, Natacha Gondran also participated in the Terre à Terre podcast on RCF. In this program, she addresses the question: “Human Impact on Earth: Have We Crossed the Boundaries?”
“In 2009, 26 researchers undertook to measure the impact of human activities on the planet. The scientists established a list of nine critical thresholds concerning climate change, biodiversity erosion, and ocean acidification. Exceeding them, they warned, would risk irreversible disruptions and serious consequences. The world, unfortunately, remained deaf to these warnings. And seven of these nine boundaries have already been crossed.”
