After receiving the jury’s special award at the 2019 Innovation Awards, the Mines Saint-Étienne spin-off has just obtained new certification and continues its development. At the beginning of this year, it is announcing new recruitment and commercialization prospects for its expertise: the technology developed by Opti’Waves has enabled the launch of the Zircoya® oven, which reduces sintering (firing) time to 1 hour compared to 8 to 15 hours for conventional ovens (resistive heating).
The Zircoya© by Opti’Waves oven has been continuously evolving since its initial commissioning: optimized, miniaturized, compacted (from 70 to 45 kilograms), the new technology enables a microwave firing cycle of approximately one hour only at high temperature and significant energy savings.
On the dentistry market since October with a progressive sales objective, Opti’Waves offers a customized service and aims to approach other sectors interested in its expertise.
It will present its innovative and high-performance solution at several professional showrooms starting at the end of January.
Opti’Waves certified by Novacité!
The European Business and Innovation Centre Novacité is now the accelerator for high-potential startups of the CCI Lyon Métropole.
For the young spin-off, this step is important and allows it to “be part of a network of partners that supports and accelerates its development”.
Today with a team of 6 employees, the young team is expanding and plans to recruit a technician, a PhD student, and a sales manager at the beginning of this year.

As a reminder, the jury awarded this prize to the startup for its revolutionary process: the development of microwave firing of ceramics for zirconia dental prostheses is the result of 10 years of research at the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne led by Sébastien Saunier, researcher-lecturer, founder and CEO of Opti’Waves.
