Mines Saint-Étienne launches its call for citizen projects for the 2025-2026 academic year, aimed at 1st-year ICM students. Associations, local authorities, educational or cultural institutions, or even internal school departments, anyone can propose a topic.
What is a Citizen Project?
The citizen project aims to develop the commitment and social responsibility of future engineers. It is not necessarily a technical project: themes can be social, educational, environmental, cultural, or scientific. These are concrete projects, designed to meet real needs.
A motivated, supervised, and involved team
Each selected project is entrusted to a team of 6 to 12 engineering students, who dedicate up to 2,100 cumulative hours to it, from September to June. The groups are supported by a school instructor, project management and human relations experts, and, of course, the person who submitted the project. This project leader is fully integrated into the process: needs definition, steering committees, progress monitoring, and final evaluation.
A stimulating dynamic: the EXIOM Partners competition
To strengthen student engagement, projects are part of the EXIOM Partners Citizen Project competition, which rewards the best achievements and valorizations.
Calendar Reminder
Project submission deadline: June 10, 2025
- Phase 1 (September to November): scoping and needs assessment.
- Phase 2 (December to June): operational implementation.
What types of projects?
Projects can be external (with civil society partner organizations) or internal to the School.
This year, internally led projects are already proposed, such as:
- “Beyond the Facade: Our Common Home and History,” submitted by Ségolène Courant
- or the “Ambassador Programme,” led by Amielle Dusengimana from IMT.
