“To be a responsible engineering school driving innovations with societal impact” is the ambition of Mines Saint-Étienne. Last April, it unveiled its 2023-2027 strategic plan during a General Staff Meeting. Jacques Fayolle, Director of the School, presents its main outlines.
“Responsible in light of the transition challenges of the 21st century, for our students and our staff, Mines Saint-Étienne is among the best ‘technological universities’ in Europe.
With a history spanning over 200 years and the excellence of its staff, its mission is to train leaders to meet the challenges of today’s major transitions, to produce research that drives innovation, to support economic development, and finally to ensure a harmonious relationship between science, technology, and society. Mines Saint-Étienne is the driver of innovations that positively impact our ecosystems and our society on industrial, economic, energy, and environmental levels.
The 2023-2027 strategic plan of Mines Saint-Étienne carries this ambition collectively. It contributes to the overall strategy of the Institut Mines-Télécom, which is briefly presented in the first pages of this document.
The strategy of Mines Saint-Étienne is then broken down into its ambition, general positioning, and sustainability before being translated into 10 strategic orientation sheets aimed at action.
A summary of the actions carried out under the 2017-2021 strategic plan illustrates how such a strategic plan can be used. Finally, an infographic summarizes Mines Saint-Étienne’s impact within and for its ecosystem through key figures from 2022.
Before letting you discover our strategic ambition in the following pages, I would like to emphasize the collective dimension of this plan’s development. Through working groups, collective ideation days, and drafting work, more than 200 people (staff, students, alumni, partners, etc.) contributed intensively to this document throughout 2022. This is an essential strength, already a guarantee of our strategy’s success.”
