The School is committed to a “responsible digital” approach. It has just signed the Responsible Digital Charter of the INR (Institute for Responsible Digital); of which it has been a member since 2021, through Institut Mines Télécom.

Committing to Responsible Digital

New technologies are profoundly transforming how our society functions, how people use them, and how businesses operate. Mines Saint-Étienne is building its resilience by replacing rigid structures and processes with an infrastructure and work culture capable of responding and adapting to new requirements. This digital transformation challenge is part of a broader consideration of ecological transition and the need to optimize resource consumption and act responsibly.
In this regard, Mines Saint-Étienne made a commitment in 2022 by signing the Responsible Digital Charter. It is among the first French higher education and research institutions to make this commitment.
This commitment translates into several objectives:

  • Optimize digital tools to limit their impacts and consumption,
  • Develop service offerings that are accessible to all, inclusive, and sustainable,
  • Ensure ethical and responsible digital practices,
  • Make digital measurable and transparent for greater accountability,
  • Foster the emergence of new behaviors and values through innovations aimed at improving quality of life at work and personally.

This commitment reflects Mines Saint-Étienne‘s strong determination to be an engineering school fully engaged in ecological transition.

The Responsible Digital Charter

“Initiated in 2020 by the INR (Institute for Responsible Digital), the Responsible Digital Charter presents a list of commitments made by signatories, whether a company, association, or public entity. This charter encourages self-assessment on the various points raised, conducting a review, and then planning actions for continuous improvement. Being a signatory to this charter is also a commitment to share actions, knowledge, and promote the quality approach among employees, clients, partners, and suppliers.
