The School encourages its staff and students to commute to work or study by bicycle. It has implemented several measures to promote cycling.
As part of its energy conservation plan, particularly the section dedicated to mobility, Mines Saint-Étienne encourages its staff and students to use low-carbon transportation as much as possible to reach its campuses in Saint-Étienne and Gardanne.
An internal survey conducted in 2022 reveals a 13% modal share for cycling at the site located at 158 Cours Fauriel. This percentage positions cycling as the third mode of transportation used by staff to commute to work, behind cars (54%) and walking (17%).
For those who would like to take the plunge, please note that five standard bicycles are made available free of charge to staff through the Mines Saint-Étienne Resource Management and Reservation application (GRR). Two are available at 158 Cours Fauriel, two at Institut Fayol, and one at the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering (CIS). Mandatory safety equipment is provided when borrowing a bicycle (helmet and vest). In case of a flat tire, a repair kit and a pump are available at each site.

For parking, a bicycle rack was installed this summer in the main courtyard of the Saint-Étienne site. With a capacity of sixteen spaces, it is freely accessible along building H.
A parking area of the same size is available on Campus Provence.
Testimonial from…

I live in the Métare neighborhood, not far from the school. When weather conditions permit, I don’t hesitate to hop on my mountain bike equipped with a rack to carry a bag with my computer and a basket for clothes. I really enjoy cycling to work. It allows me to relax and observe nature when I cross Parc de l’Europe. It’s also a way to contribute modestly to reducing CO2 emissions… Not enough, however, to fly without any qualms!

The 158 Cours Fauriel site applies for the Objectif Employeur Pro-Vélo label for the first time
The audit of the historic Saint-Étienne site is scheduled for December 7.
Campus Provence is also entering the certification process with an audit scheduled in one year.

The actions to be implemented to obtain the Employeur Pro-Vélo label (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) are divided into five areas of action:
- Management and strategy
- Communication and motivation
