Named Edu4Chip, this project aims to structure a set of theoretical and practical courses designed to train future experts in microelectronics.
This funding is the successful outcome of a European academic call for projects in which Mines Saint-Étienne participated alongside other prestigious European universities such as Technische Universität München (TUM), Tampere University (Finland), the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH), the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Its primary objective is to design and implement training programmes that produce highly qualified engineers in sectors experiencing recruitment difficulties.
Jean-Max Dutertre, Professor and Head of the Secure Systems and Architectures Department (SAS), worked on this application and submitted the candidacy of École des Mines de Saint-Étienne.
A new programme in 2025
The Edu4Chip project will begin in October 2023 and will run for four years.
It will lead to a 3rd cycle programme on the theme of integrated circuit design, which is currently under development. It is expected to launch in 2025.
The Edu4Chip project is part of Horizon Europe, the European Union (EU) programme for research and innovation for the period from 2021 to 2027.
Its main objectives are to:
- strengthen the scientific and technological foundations of the Union;
- stimulate its competitiveness, including that of its industry;
- implement the Union’s strategic policy priorities;
- contribute to addressing global challenges, including the Sustainable Development Goals.
