This summer, the School validated the evaluation milestone necessary for the renewal of its Sustainable Development & Social Responsibility label.

As required by the Labeling Committee, Mines Saint-Étienne validated the credits and justified its mid-term actions to secure the renewal of its DD&RS label.

Since its last certification in 2021, the School has indeed intensified its efforts towards an increasingly sustainable operation of its various departments.

From adapting training syllabi to strengthening actions on responsible digital practices, implementing a virtuous communication policy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, all levers are being activated to minimize its carbon footprint.

All stakeholders at Mines Saint-Étienne and all areas of sustainable development are involved in this dynamic: strategy and governance, education and training, research and innovation, environment, and social policy.

Mines Saint-Étienne is one of the nine institutions that successfully completed this intermediate stage.

What is DD&RS?

The DD&RS – Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility – labeling system for higher education was created in 2015. It is the result of the collective work of about ten universities and Grandes Écoles, the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), the Conférence des Présidents d’Université (CPU), the Ministry in charge of sustainable development, the Ministry in charge of higher education, and the Network of Students for an Ecological and Solidarity-based Society (RESES).

It enables the national and international promotion of sustainable development and social responsibility initiatives by French higher education and research institutions. It also allows institutions to develop their skills within a collective of committed institutions through their participation in the labeling committee and in audits of candidate institutions.
