Mines Saint-Étienne distinguished itself on the international stage by participating in the Jacques Cartier Meetings and the T.I.M.E Association networking days. A recap of two flagship events that took place across the Atlantic, in Quebec, from October 14 to 20, 2024.
On the occasion of the Jacques Cartier Meetings, Mines Saint-Étienne was extensively represented in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes delegation. Several faculty members led workshops on resilient industry and the circular economy:
- Workshops on Resilient Industry: Valérie Laforest, Jonathan Villot, and Audrey Tanguy shared their expertise to rethink the robustness of industrial processes.
- Circular Economy in Healthcare: Michelle Mongo and Nadine Dubruc explored innovative solutions for a more sustainable and responsible sector.
These workshops highlighted Mines Saint-Étienne’s commitment to topics with high societal impact and proposed concrete solutions to current challenges.
Networking and International Collaborations with T.I.M.E. Association
Mines Saint-Étienne also participated in the T.I.M.E. Association networking days during the general assembly, a group of approximately 60 universities, 20 of which are partners of the School. These meetings, hosted by Polytechnique Montréal, offered a unique opportunity to strengthen international collaborations.
The School led a workshop on the quality of its internationalization. Florence Granger, Director of International Development, and Paul Wheal, Head of International Affairs, presented the initiatives implemented to obtain Cequint certification and its results. Discussions also focused on current topics and collaboration projects.
Strategic Meetings with Quebec Universities
Alongside these events, a part of the Mines Saint-Étienne delegation, namely the School’s Director, Jacques Fayolle, his Chief of Staff, Gaétane Zummo, and the Director of International Development, Florence Granger, held numerous meetings with Quebec partners. HEC Montréal, ETS Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, Université Concordia, and Polytechnique Montréal were on the agenda. Objective: to strengthen existing double-degree programmes and develop new collaborative research activities.

Mines Saint-Étienne’s active presence at these events once again demonstrates its commitment to being an indispensable player in international academic exchanges. By focusing on innovation and industrial resilience and by forging strategic partnerships, the School continues to build a strong network to prepare tomorrow’s talents for the major challenges facing society.
