From July 27 to 31, 2020, the international summer school “AI for Industry 4.0” took place: http://ci.mines-stetienne.fr/ai4industry/.

It focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models and technologies to address the challenges of interoperability, trust, and autonomy in the industry of the future.
This week brought together 45 participants from academia and industry (Orange, Airbus, Siemens), distributed across 3 sites for some (Saint-Etienne – France, St Gallen – Switzerland, Nuremberg – Germany) and remotely for others (with connections from across Europe, Brazil, and the United States). They were able to attend theoretical courses and hands-on sessions covering various topics: Knowledge Graphs, the Web of Things, Decentralized AI, and Responsible AI. This knowledge was put into practice throughout the 5 days on a concrete case study from industry, set in the IT’m Factory of the Henri Fayol Institute.
This event was co-organized by the Computer Science and Intelligent Systems Department of Mines Saint-Etienne, the Connected Intelligence team of the Hubert Curien Laboratory at Jean Monnet University, Fraunhofer IIS, and the University of Nuremberg. It was supported by the Franco-German University, Institut Mines-Télécom, and the Franco-German Academy for the Industry of the Future.

Given the success of this first edition, this summer school will be held again next year.
