Signing of the Responsible Digital Charter

Mines Saint-Etienne has just signed the Responsible Digital Charter of the Institute for Responsible Digital (INR), of which it was already a member, through the Institut Mines Télécom, since 2021. The School is among the first French higher education and research institutions to make this commitment.

Mines Saint-Etienne thus affirms its commitment to the Eco-Responsible Public Services (SPE) initiative aimed at accelerating the ecological transition of public services by strengthening eco-responsibility and sustainable transformation dynamics. This initiative is based on 20 core commitments, including responsible digital practices.

By signing the Responsible Digital Charter, the School commits in particular to:

  • Optimize digital tools to limit their impacts and consumption,
  • Develop accessible, inclusive, and sustainable service offerings for all,
  • Ensure ethical and responsible digital practices,
  • Make digital measurable and transparent for greater accountability,
  • Foster the emergence of new behaviors and values through innovations aimed at quality of work and personal life.

IT and communication agreement with Jean Monnet University and the City of Saint-Etienne

The School has signed an IT agreement with Jean Monnet University and the City of Saint-Etienne. This agreement enables the sharing of network infrastructures to avoid the proliferation of energy-intensive data centers dedicated to higher education and research in the region.

BENUR Workshop research project

Led by the Henri Fayol Institute at Mines Saint-Etienne, the research project aims to conduct an Environmental Assessment for Responsible Digital (BENUR). The project teams are developing an environmental evaluation method applied to digital objects, with a focus on sustainability.

School participation in initiatives to reduce digital impact

Reducing digital impact within the School is the challenge set for staff and students. For one week, they participated in the Cyber Cleanup challenge. The objective was to reduce the overall volume of emails at the School. The School also participated in “Cybermois” for the second year.
