Natacha Gondran, a research professor at Mines Saint-Étienne, and Aurélien Boutaud, an environmental consultant, were guests on “La Terre au Carré” on Tuesday, November 19, on France Inter, to discuss the planetary boundaries framework.
The show hosted by Mathieu Vidard was recorded in the Parisian premises of Maison de la Radio. It provided an opportunity for our speakers to explain why human activities disrupt the climatic, biological, and geochemical balances that the Earth system has known for 10,000 years.
Earth’s Habitability Threatened
The planetary boundaries framework documents how nine major processes (climate change, biodiversity erosion, ocean acidification, freshwater, phosphorus, and nitrogen cycles, soils, aerosols, and the introduction of novel entities) threaten the habitability conditions of our planet.
