Mines Saint-Étienne and Terradona, a key player in innovative technologies for the “smart city,” are formalizing a collaboration to encourage best sorting practices on the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus. At the heart of this partnership: the Cliiink® Box.

Developed by Terradona, the Cliiink® Box is based on an advanced plastic waste and can recognition system. This innovation encourages active user participation by offering rewards for each sorting action. The integration of this technology on the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus marks an additional step in developing a strong eco-responsible culture among the institution’s students and staff.

A Partnership Committed to the Environment and Education

This project comprises several components that strengthen its impact:

  • Real-time analysis: Through collected data, teams will be able to concretely measure sorting effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Community engagement: The student association SolidarISMIN supports the initiative by raising user awareness about sorting. The rewards generated by the Cliiink® Box will be used to fund solidarity and eco-responsible projects.
  • Collective awareness: Mines Saint-Étienne and SolidarISMIN will organize eco-citizen campaigns to establish best practices on a lasting basis.
  • Learning through innovation: Integrated into the ISMIN curriculum, the Cliiink® Box will become an educational tool for engineers by offering a practical case study of the alliance between technology and sustainable development.

Eco-responsibility at the Heart of Mines Saint-Étienne’s Strategy

By adopting the Cliiink® Box, Mines Saint-Étienne confirms its strong commitment to implementing concrete solutions aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015. And David Delafosse, Director of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus, would certainly agree: “This partnership symbolizes our ambition: to transform our campuses into testing grounds for sustainable innovations. Our students and graduates are actively involved in concrete projects that shape a more responsible future.”

Immediate Impact and Ambitious Prospects

The recent installation of the Cliiink® Box has generated strong interest among students. A monitoring committee, composed of representatives from Mines Saint-Étienne and TERRADONA, will analyze the initial results and explore future applications, particularly within the framework of educational programs.

In this virtuous dynamic, everyone has a role to play.
