Mines Saint-Étienne and emlyon business school are deepening their partnership to help healthcare companies better meet the challenges of the data economy and artificial intelligence. The first intake of this new multidisciplinary program, accredited by the CGE, will begin in September 2019.

The MSc in Health Management & Data Intelligence (accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles) prepares future professionals who will join the healthcare sector to contribute to the major transformations driven by big data, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies.

The objective is to introduce students to and help them acquire the broadest possible range of tools to understand and master all the issues surrounding the use of AI in healthcare and to lead transformation projects while being able to engage credibly and relevantly with all stakeholders.

Mines Saint-Étienne and emlyon business school are strengthening their already robust cooperation, as evidenced by the exchange and dual degree agreements signed between the two schools in 2008 and 2014, respectively.

The first intake will begin in September 2019 with an enrollment of 60 students. The MSc is open (selection based on application) to graduates with a bachelor’s degree + 4 years in engineering, computer science, management, pharmacy, biology, or law.

The curriculum consists of 11 months of coursework (including 3 in Shanghai)—450 hours—followed by a 6-month professional placement in a company or organization in the healthcare sector (with a professional thesis).

“The Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering at Mines Saint-Étienne (Healthcare Engineering), and emlyon business school (Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Management), are directly engaged with the technological, business, and managerial challenges related to the development of innovative personalized healthcare products and solutions.”

The research areas of both institutions will help identify ways to improve the content in order to position the program within a realistic forward-looking approach to emerging professions.

Vincent Augusto, a faculty researcher at CIS, is the academic director for Mines Saint-Étienne.
