Adopted on November 24 by the School Board, the digital strategy aims to address the digital challenges facing Mines Saint-Étienne. Through pedagogical innovation, resource development, and organizational support, the school’s ambition is focused on the industry of the future.
This digital strategy was established following a concise diagnostic assessment within the school by associate professor Philippe Beaune. To enable collaborative and cross-functional implementation, the school has established a Digital Committee (CONUM). It is led by Philippe Beaune and composed of about ten members representing the campuses, professions, and diverse missions of the school.
Why is Mines Saint-Étienne adopting a digital strategy?
In an effort to address the societal upheavals brought about by digital technology—highlighted in particular by the health crisis—the school needed to seize this opportunity to strengthen and structure its unique characteristics. Indeed, digital technology is an integral part of the school’s DNA. Since the late 1960s, with the creation of a computing center and a teaching and research department dedicated exclusively to computer science, digital technology has been part of Mines Saint-Étienne. In the 2000s, the school reinforced its position in this field by creating the Georges Charpak Provence campus through the Microelectronics Center.
What are the objectives of the digital strategy?
The objectives are to identify, strengthen, and showcase the ambition, actions, and expertise of Mines Saint-Étienne in the digital field. The strategy works to better support students and staff, particularly through the five education and research centers. Finally, it contributes to enhancing the school’s image and attractiveness both in France and internationally.
With these objectives, the school is acting on several levels:
- Education
- Digital resources and equipment
- Research
- Corporate support
- The school environment
