An exhibition on magnetism is open until Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Saint-Étienne. It is an opportunity to discover the origins, functioning, and applications of this mysterious physical phenomenon.
In refrigerator magnets, induction cooktops, wind turbines, MRIs, electric motors, computers… Magnetism permeates every aspect of our daily lives. But do you truly know its secrets?
To better grasp and understand it, the mediators from the scientific culture center of Mines Saint-Étienne offer you fifty experiments and collaborative games divided into four themes:
- Where to find it?
- How to explain it?
- What is it for?
- What are its roles in a computer?
The live animations will facilitate instructive exchanges between participants of all generations. They will punctuate the visit and its beautiful, colorful scenography.

“Magnétique” is an original exhibition designed by the Institut Jean Lamour, a joint research unit of CNRS – Université de Lorraine. It has been awarded the “Year of Physics 2023-2024” label.
Enjoy your visit.
