As every year, Jacques Fayolle extended his best wishes to the School’s staff and students on the Aix-Marseille-Provence and Saint-Étienne campuses. A necessary review of the past year, the achievements, and the ambitions of the School for 2026.

Wishing health, happiness, shared joys, and personal and professional success, the director encouraged his audience to push their limits and believe in their projects. Mines Saint-Étienne remains committed to the world’s virtuous transformations, thanks to the work of its researchers, faculty, students, administrative staff, and support functions. Without their support, Stéphane Avril (French Academy of Sciences Prize 2025), Alexandra Vallet (recipient of an ERC grant of 2 million euros), or LabCom DISC-AER would not have reached such heights.

2026 will be an audit year for Mines Saint-Étienne. The Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs (CTI) will audit the 6 engineering degrees offered at the School. It is a demanding appointment, but we are ready.

In March, Engineering Day will take place at the Lyon auditorium. Centrale Lyon, ENTPE, INSA Lyon, and Mines Saint-Étienne will gather to discuss the role and responsibility of engineering in the decarbonization of industry and uses, the circular economy, and responsible digital technology.

In December, we will celebrate Saint Barbara’s Day and the centenary of the historic campus at 158, cours Fauriel. Heritage issues will be at the heart of 2026, and we will closely follow the progress of the Campus of the Future project.
