Hackathon ON[e]Life: two ISMIN teams on the podium

The AI & Health hackathon «making sense for health big data» organised by our partner On[e]Life in Marseille on 19 and 20 November took place as part of the Innov’inMed event dedicated to innovation in healthcare.

The challenge was to create an application, a platform or a technology related to everyday health: out of the 8 teams involved, 5 were made up of ISMIN engineering students, who rose brilliantly to the challenge of these collaborative and creative days.

The Datamines team – Mathieu Bour, Dimitri Bret, Baptiste Lefevre, Clarisse Pouillery – received 2nd prize for its project “Data collection system and epidemic prediction model”
3rd prize went to the JOYY team – Julien Hoefflinger, Omar Khatib, Yunfan Zhou, Yuan Feng – for its project “Disease detection software based on Machine Learning algorithms”

The three other projects were led by the Epidé’Mines team “Modelling the spread of an epidemic”; the Safe Corner team “An adviser for safe contraceptives”; and the TanukIN “Prevention of health risks linked to the use of a molecule”.

We warmly congratulate all participating students and the prize-winning teams: the project deliverables had to be displayed in English, an additional challenge that our student engineers met perfectly!

Bronze Chrono for the IAE/Mines team

20 ISMIN student engineers also took part in the “36-hour business creation challenge organised in Marseille on 21 and 22 November by the Pépite Paca Ouest hub and Aix-Marseille University.
The event brought together 60 teams, 240 students from the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region—two intense days of thinking, developing and presenting a virtual business project.
10 prizes were awarded per category, including the Bronze Chrono in the project category for the team made up of Antoine Mosser, an ISMIN student, and Anais Avond, Anastassia Bader and Emilien Arnal, from IAE Aix-en-Provence:

Their project “Created by” is based on setting up a commercial web platform that connects and networks fashion design students with customers.

Michel Fiocchi, Delegate for Entrepreneurship, was a member of the 2018 jury.

Online development competition

“2 hours to solve 6 algorithmic exercises of increasing difficulty, as quickly as possible”: Mines Saint-Étienne was a partner of the Student Battle dev, organised in collaboration with Thales, which hosted the event. Congratulations to the 20 ISMIN student engineers for their individual participation and collective representation: the School ranked 47th out of 132 participating schools.
“This competition enables developers to get noticed by around fifty high-tech recruiters by taking remote programming tests.”
