The mission of a delegation from Mines Saint-Étienne and IMT to Dakar at the École Supérieure Polytechnique campus is part of the project to establish a presence in Senegal and deploy our specialized programme dedicated to the green economy across Africa. One of the objectives of the future Franco-Senegalese campus is to support executives in transitions and sustainable development.
Meeting with educational stakeholders from ESP Dakar as part of the IMT delegation
With a view to deploying our Advance Master in Territories, Technology and Financing of Innovative Project Portfolios for the Green Economy (PPIEV) in Senegal (already available in Oran and Abidjan), Florence Granger, Head of International Development, and Michelle Mongo, Academic Head of this programme, first met with partners from the École Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar.
A framework agreement between IMT and ESP Dakar was signed during this mission: ESP is a key partner for engineering and the deployment of training, and a Franco-Senegalese cooperation in favor of the digital economy and innovation (workshop on digital manufacturing) was launched.
“Through its training and mobility activities, our School is part of the IMT project to develop the Franco-Senegalese Campus, which could host offshore programmes from French universities and Grandes Écoles.”
The Mines Saint-Étienne/IMT mission from January 29 to February 5 also provided an opportunity to meet various economic stakeholders in the country, in particular the CIES, a group of European companies operating in Senegal, and a business leader in the field of continuing education.
“The Franco-Senegalese campus at the heart of the education summit”
At the time of these visits to Dakar, French and Senegalese Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Macky Sall were co-chairing the third international replenishment conference for the Global Partnership for Education. On this occasion, Philippe Jamet, Director General of IMT, was part of the French delegation representing engineering schools in Senegal.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between France and Senegal for the creation of a Franco-Senegalese campus. “IMT is already and will be heavily involved in this campus project.”
“This new campus will bring together the best French and Senegalese institutions around a shared educational programme tailored to the needs of the local economic market” (Excerpt from Emmanuel Macron‘s speech to the French community in Dakar).
“IMT is identified as one of the higher education institutions capable of providing the engineering component for the future campus.”
