From February 26 to 28, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus hosted a unique challenge. Students and entrepreneurs collaborated to develop innovative projects aimed at combating climate disasters.

In the face of the climate emergency, Innov’actions, a créathlon organized by Mines Saint-Étienne, brought together 100 participants at the Gardanne site: computer science and microelectronics engineers, innovation management students from Aix-Marseille University, and young entrepreneurs from Pépite Provence.

Their mission: to imagine and prototype concrete solutions around the theme of “Climate Disasters: Fighting, Preventing, Acting in the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Area.”

A Collaborative and Technological Challenge

The 15 teams formed had access to electronic kits, various materials, and equipment from the IDFAB technological platform (3D printer, thermoforming machine, and laser cutting) to develop their ideas. Accompanied by experts from industry, research, and crisis management, they each proposed an innovative project, economically viable and technically feasible.

An Exceptional Jury

On February 28, the teams pitched their project and gave a demonstration before a jury of 16 professionals from companies and institutions partnering with the school (IBM, Thales, St Microelectronics, the Impulse incubator, the Belle de mai incubator, Pays d’Aix Développement, the Aktantis cluster, the Departmental Council, and the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, main funder of this innovation programme.

Three of them stood out:

  • 1st place: Alert’O (Theme : Flood)
  • Jury’s Favorite: Fire halt (Theme : Devastating Fire)
  • Audience Award: Protect’O (Theme : Drought & Water Resource Conservation)

Our sincere congratulations to the winners and all participants for their dedication.
