This multidisciplinary work, published by Presses des Mines, gathers contributions “that renew our understanding of Fayol as an engineer, geologist, manager, and founder of administrative sciences.”
“This book on Henri Fayol seeks to bring together current specialists on Fayol’s writings, whether their focus has been on his scientific activities, his research as a mining practitioner, or his most well-known reflection in the field of business management, while keeping in mind that it is Fayol’s rigorous approach, his patient maturation, and the modernity that stems from it, which are at the heart of these works.”(…)
Coordinated by Marco Bertilorenzi, Nadine Dubruc and Jean-Philippe Passaqui, it is the result of a symposium organized by Mines Saint-Étienne (Fayol Institute) and Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (Institute of Modern and Contemporary History) as part of the school’s bicentennial.

“The work aims to approach Henri Fayol from a multidisciplinary and comparative perspective, in order to grasp the complexity of his thought and career, as well as his contributions to science, economics, society, and technology.”
“The Many Facets of a Manager” is published in the History, Science and Society collection @Presses des Mines.
Three chapters were written by Mines Saint-Étienne faculty-researchers: Bernard Guy “Henri Fayol and Geology”, Christian Brodhag “Henri Fayol, 100 Years and Not a Wrinkle” and Nadine Dubruc “The Management of People in Industrial and General Administration”.
