On April 15, 2025, the Lyon–Saint-Étienne College of Engineering organized the 1st edition of Engineering Day at the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Headquarters. This ambitious event, open to all, aimed to put into perspective the role and responsibility of engineering in the face of tomorrow’s major challenges.

Bringing together Centrale Lyon, ENTPE, INSA Lyon, and Mines Saint-Étienne, the Lyon–Saint-Étienne College of Engineering promotes a shared vision: placing engineering at the service of ecological, industrial, and digital transitions. For this first edition, the day was structured around the triptych Re-use | Re-invent | Re-generate, through:

  • 5 thematic round tables led by researchers, experts, and field practitioners (including the participation of Valérie Laforest, professor-researcher at the Fayol Institute)
  • scientific mediation workshops open to all and organized by La Rotonde,
  • rich exchanges with the public, in a format combining prospective reflection and the sharing of experiences.

This highlight brought together academic and industrial stakeholders, elected officials, students, and the general public, in an effort to foster collective awareness of sustainable transformation issues.

This day was organized with the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, in support of the College of Engineering’s actions. It marks an important step in the development of shared training, research, innovation, and scientific mediation initiatives between the region’s engineering schools.
