Following Yvon Raak’s departure, the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Recovery appointed a new Chairman for the École des Mines de Saint-Etienne. Dominique Poiroux, former head of Nutricia (Danone group), assumes the chairmanship of the School for the 2021 academic year.

His Career

A graduate of École Polytechnique as an Engineer of the Corps des Mines, he began his career in several French administrations (Director of the Minister of Research’s office, Budget Directorate, …). From 1997, he joined the Danone group, where he held numerous positions, including President of the group’s global medical division. In July 2021, he founded his company, Healthynvest, “to participate in consulting and investment [and] support companies impacting human health.” Involved in the world of engineering schools, he has been Chairman of the School Board of IMT Mines Albi since 2012.

His interest in the themes of Industry and Health of the Future

The industry of the future,” because I have just spent 24 years as an executive at Danone—in Europe, but also in China where I lived for four years—and I fully appreciate the importance of this transformation, to better serve the end consumer by integrating the digital revolution and the imperative of sustainable development, everywhere in the world.

The medicine of the future,” because the common thread throughout my career has been to serve health causes, first in public service (where I had the chance to head the Minister of Research’s office and notably create the national human genome sequencing center), then at Danone (where I led the global medical nutrition division, with a particular focus on home care and the autonomy of the frail elderly), and finally since last July with the creation of my own investment company, Healthynvest, and my partnership with several investment funds in the health sector .

And finally, I am very curious to understand the full potential of your “Internet of Things / IoT” platform, in health, industry, and far beyond.”
