Giving computers a second life, introducing seniors to computing, sharing a passion for science… the civic, educational, and intergenerational initiatives of the students are remarkable and demonstrate their commitment and openness to interculturality.

“Engineers in Solidarity”
Diploma ceremony by #ISMIN students for seniors as part of the ISA project “Engineers in Solidarity”, an academic and civic initiative. Congratulations to all!
Giving Computers a Second Life
When computer workstations are no longer compatible with the software required for student training, they are no longer used. The students’ goal is to give them a second life: format them and install a lighter operating system as well as basic office software.
Once recycled, they find a second life in institutions or associations that will make good use of them!
ISMIN students in Gardanne are carrying out their ISA project in conjunction with Emmaüs: they have delivered several computers refurbished by them throughout the year.
This action has also been carried out for several years in Saint-Étienne. A civic project within the ICM curriculum allows associations to acquire this computer equipment or schools to familiarize their students with computer use.
Since January 2018, 25 repaired computer workstations have been delivered (12 to primary schools in the region and 13 to an association).
“We are ready to help various organizations, leisure centers… Do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in this initiative!”

These actions are also fully in line with the School’s sustainable development policy.
Regional Championship of EPA Mini-Enterprises

Congratulations to the students for contributing to the success of this 7th regional edition, which “aims to mobilise local entrepreneurs to offer programmes and train young people (from primary school to university) in the entrepreneurial experience”.
As part of their ISA project, a group of ISMIN students supported the Entreprendre Pour Apprendre Paca (EPA) association in organizing the regional Mini-Enterprise championship final: the event welcomed 1300 participants and was a great success.
The goal was to synchronize 200 evaluations during the day and to structure this annual organization to make it sustainable. Our School was also a partner of the event through its entrepreneurial program Team@Mines Saint Étienne.
