École de technologie supérieure de Montréal, together with Mines Saint-Étienne and Emlyon business school, both members of UMR CNRS 5600 Environnement Ville Société, organized a day dedicated to the contributions of the circular economy to the challenges of industrial and ecological transition during the 32nd edition of the Entretiens Jacques Cartier.

During this event, workshops, roundtables, and plenary conferences followed one another to offer around a hundred participants a wide range of questions on the circular economy, from environmental challenges and new economic models to its implementation.

As a preamble, a first series of conferences presented the theoretical and practical challenges of the circular economy: the different perspectives and certain specific issues related to the circular economy, both in its design and implementation, were thus addressed.
During a second workshop, to enrich the transition from theory to practice, several experiences carried out in partnership by research centers and companies were highlighted.

The day demonstrated the value of a systemic, multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder, and multi-scale approach to advancing the sustainability of economic and social systems through circular economy practices.
