Jean-Pierre Poyet led a conference on the risks of household chemicals.
As a radiation protection advisor at Mines Saint-Étienne, Jean-Pierre Poyet provides training on the technical and chemical hazards that students and staff may encounter at the School.
In early April, he held a conference on the use of household chemicals, which was attended by approximately one hundred people.
“In industry or laboratories, the use of chemicals is strictly regulated due to the employer’s responsibility to protect the health and safety of workers. In other sectors, such as crafts or agriculture for example, the dangers of hazardous chemical agents are often misunderstood. The same applies at home, where cleaning and DIY tasks (as well as the use of cosmetic products) are almost always carried out without preventing these hazards. However, a European regulation known as CLP, applicable since 2010, requires manufacturers, importers, and retailers to communicate the dangers of the products sold. The objective of this conference is to present all the communication elements accessible to each of us.”
