In early July, many of you participated in the four collaborative workshops organized at the Saint-Étienne site of Mines Saint-Étienne.
Among the 140 participants were individuals from nearly all departments and research centers, as well as a few students still present on campus. They all shared the initial proposals and ongoing reflections:
- office configuration
- shared use of premises
- needs of student associations
- prospects for closer collaboration between the FabLab and Learning Lab
There were numerous reactions and recommendations. These have been forwarded to the team of architects, landscape architects, programmers, and scenographers working on the master plan.
The goal now is to align the sketches from the architects and landscape architects, the results of technical studies (assessment of existing structures, surface area requirements, state of networks, securing of facilities, etc.), and the expectations, needs, and constraints of the school’s users and management.
Several scenarios under consideration
The entire project is also being filtered through academic schedules and budgetary imperatives. Consequently, several paths are emerging with various options currently subject to management’s decision.
On the occasion of the general assembly on Monday, September 16, 2024, a presentation on the project’s progress—including an update on diagnostics, functional diagrams, and a summary of the consultation process—will be offered during the lunch break.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday, September 16, starting at 12:30 PM, at the Espace des Cabanes (East).

The master plan will then be finalized with all studies and instructions required to produce the detailed technical programme. This will enable the drafting of the specifications for the consultation of a project management group (architects, design offices).
