The Research Director and Lecturer-Researcher at Mines Saint-Etienne has been appointed for two years to lead one of France’s oldest learned societies.
“My two years as vice-president allowed me to see and understand the association’s operations from the inside. I therefore took on my new role in June 2023, with a good understanding of the structure and a desire to make it better known. Many events are currently being prepared to highlight the place of materials in our lives (webinars, publishing and popularization initiatives). We are also working on organizing several conferences throughout France. I also want to get the younger generation more interested in the associative world, without forgetting to properly celebrate the association’s 80th anniversary in 2025.” the interested party specifies.
At the end of her term, Anna Fraczkiewicz will be extended for two years as “former president.”
The SF2M currently has almost 1000 members. Although metallic materials form the core of its DNA, it also focuses on other materials and broader associated topics.
It is structured into thematic commissions and regional sections, including Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.
The French Society for Metallurgy and Materials has always benefited from the expertise and contributions of researchers from Mines Saint-Étienne.
People of good will who wish to get involved in the association are welcome.
