In 2025, Mines Saint-Étienne and the Faculty of Health at Jean Monnet University launched a Preparatory and Diploma Program in Engineering and Health.

Laurent Navarro, Head of Training, and first-year students Maram Mars and Nathan Freyss participated in a YouTube live session to present the program and answer questions.

This live session highlights the excellence of this unique and highly selective program. Maram and Nathan share their PDIS experience, an alternative to CPGE (preparatory classes for engineering schools) and the medical entrance exam, ideal for students hesitant between these two paths. This assumed position of excellence aims to train students with a high academic level in scientific fundamentals (Mathematics, Physics, Life and Earth Sciences).

In a few figures, the first PDIS cohort is:

  • an average baccalaureate score of 15.8
  • 76.7% with mathematics and physics-chemistry specializations
  • 16.7% with physics-chemistry and life and earth sciences specializations
  • 6.7% with another specialization

At the end of the 2-year cycle, students obtain 2 diplomas:

  • the Mines Saint-Étienne “PDIS” institutional diploma, allowing them to continue into engineering cycles
  • the “Health Sciences” bachelor’s degree from the University of Saint-Étienne, allowing them to pursue health studies

This live session was a first step in discovering the Preparatory and Diploma Program in Engineering and Health.
