“Massively greening cities and reconnecting urban dwellers to nature through the unique combination of a mobile application and a modular connected planter”: the start-up supported by TEAM@Mines Saint-Étienne relies on the expertise of the Centre of Microelectronics in Provence to develop its sensors.
“Agrove: The connected vegetable garden kit that will simplify your life!“
Quentin Rousselot, the son of a farmer, made an observation upon arriving in the city for his studies: due to a lack of time, knowledge, and space, few urban dwellers take the plunge into urban agriculture. Based on this observation, Agrove was founded in 2018 and developed a turnkey vegetable garden kit consisting of a mobile application and a vertical, modular, and connected planter.
After several awards (1st prize in the CSR category for “Le Phare de l’entrepreneuriat“, winner at the Viva Technology trade show, and selected to exhibit within the Innovation Grove at the Jardins 2019 show), Agrove recently participated in CES 2020 in Las Vegas at the GreenTech stand to present its pre-industrial prototype made from bio-sourced materials (read the press release).
Pilot phase objective
Supported by the Sud region, French Tech Marseille, and BPI France, the start-up will launch the pilot phase with large companies in March 2020 before offering its product to the general public.
It relies on the expertise of the Flexible Electronics Department at the Campus G. Charpak Provence (Sylvain Blayac, Roger Delattre) for the development of a moisture sensor integrated into the planter and on the ID-Fab platform for its prototyping (Roger Delattre, François Bernier).
The smart vegetable garden allows for the cultivation of high-quality organic fruits and vegetables without any gardening knowledge and with only a few minutes of maintenance per week. For example, its integrated water reservoir provides watering autonomy for nearly 3 weeks!
