10 Ingénieur Civil des Mines students participated on February 3 in the hackathon organized by the Crédit Agricole Loire Haute-Loire Corporate Foundation for innovation on the Saint-Étienne emlyon business school campus on the theme “My Company Facing the Digital Disruption Challenge.” Mines Saint-Étienne won first prize for the connected greenhouse project developed by a team of first-year Ingénieur Civil des Mines students.
12 student teams from Saint-Étienne higher education institutions competed throughout the day on this theme centered on digital transformation. The hackathon concluded with a pitch competition before a jury of professionals.
The first prize of 4,000 euros was awarded to a team of 5 Ingénieur Civil des Mines engineering students from Mines Saint-Étienne for their Dawn project:
“The goal is to create communities of urban farmers who cultivate optimally using connected greenhouses. These communities exchange their harvests through an application called Seeder.”
Léo Bertau (ICM2017) and Daniel Bodenheimer (ICM2017) project leaders, Simon Breumier (ICM2014, doctoral student), Hélène Martin (ICM2014), Claire Fougerouse (ICM2015).
Léo and Daniel are continuing the project through an entrepreneurial approach: they have been joined for the technical component by two Ingénieur Civil des Mines students specializing in machine learning and submitted their challenge during Dynamo Days 2018 (“Dawn” challenge 37).
– A second Mines Saint-Étienne team participated: Etienne Saby (ICM2017), Gabriel Chiché (ICM2017), Vincent Benyamin (ICM2016) and Jimmy Sallies (ICM2015) and Adrian Eghbali from EN3S, with an alternative local proximity project for online goods purchasing.
– Valentin Bouiller (ICM2015) was a member of the Télécom Saint-Étienne team that won second prize for its “Connected Teddy Bear” project.
Our students were coached by Agnès Crépet, head of the educational engineering division for the technical component, and Jean-Michel Degeorge, entrepreneurship delegate, Saint-Étienne campus, for the entrepreneurial approach.
We extend our congratulations to them for this prize and participation, which confirm the growing interest of our engineering students and their commitment to these creative challenges.
We see them particularly at events such as Dynamo Days, the L*unchbox workshop, and also the first edition of the Winter Innovation Lab Saint-Étienne, from February 26 to March 2, 2018.
